Feathers Everywhere & Seeing God

I sent a text to a friend. I wanted to encourage her and so I said, "I hope God shows you today how much He loves you and that he sees you. I hope you see a feather as a reminder."  She wished the  same back to me. I prayed silently to God, show my friend that you see her and you haven't forgotten her.

A couple of hours later, she sent me this text...

Feathers and Y's have been showing up everywhere! After a hard day. After a disappointing day. After a downright no- good- day-let-me-throw-in-the-towel-day.

Why they Y's you ask? What do they mean? Well, Jennifer Dukes Lee, started me on the Y's. Y is for Yahweh-God.

A few years back she started noticing the Y's. In trees, on signs, sticks, roads. You name it and she saw it. It was like God's way of reminding her that He was with her.

I picked this up on a morning walk in the woods with Trey. Yep, he thought I was crazy for picking up a stick and then even crazier after I explained what it was for. But I would  not let him get rid of it! :) It now sits proudly on the window sill of our condo.

Here's just a few of the feathers I've found since this text with my friend.

God is with us, and sees us (El Roi). I hope this encourages you today to keep believing! There have been so many more feather sightings,  but I stopped taking pictures of them :)

When I see them I feel like we are being surrounded and protected by angel armies, just the thought gives me chills.

  1. He loves us so ... and I guess there's just no end to the creative, imaginative ways He showers that love down on us ...

Thanks, my friend! Now you've got me wondering what I'm gonna discover on my walk today!

  2. Love this thought: "When I see them I feel like we are being surrounded and protected by angel armies, just the thought gives me chills." It's so meaningful to me how God communicates in details like these to show how intimately He cares for us :) I keep seeing 55s :)

  3. ooh 55s I wonder what that means? It is neat how He uses different things to communicate with us.

  4. Aw, I just love things like this! Little (but big) reminders that God is among us, speaking, acting, loving. My sister was visiting an unbelieving dying friend last weekend, and noticed a cross in the yard. She was so excited by that sign from God. As she got closer, it was a straw and lid, which looked like a cross at the right angle. Doesn't matter--it was a cross God wanted her to see and she did!

  5. DO YOU KNOW WHAT? I totally saw a feather on one of my lawn chairs - I noticed, but didn't know what God might be telling me. What an awesome thing that I am now reading this post. Thank you, my dear!

  6. 55 started off as something special for a friend of mine. It's police code for "I'm okay." Since her husband was killed in the line of duty, she's been seeing 55s everywhere. I've been noticing them for months too. Holley's book "You're Going to Be Okay" came in the middle of my 55s too. I feel like it's God's way of reassuring me and reminding me that He's got me :)

  9. Oh I love this! We are neighbors over at Jennifer's place today and I am all about finding Ys and feathers too! In fact... I just found this on a walk last week- all alone on the path I was walking on... I kept it too!

  12. Oh, Alicia this is so cool! You got me started on looking for Y`s so I could see God in everything and sure enough, they are cropping up everywhere. When I first read this I wanted to tell you I never see feathers, but find sparrows - birds with their feathers still on. But guess what? In the last few days I have seen 5 feathers! Don`t you just love how God has used you to remind me of Psalm 91:4; His faithful promises and protection? I will always think of that when I see feathers from now on.Thank you so much for that!
