We may know what we need to do but don't do it out of fear and uncertainty. We waive in what we think God is telling us because it doesn't make sense.
But does it?
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."Joshua 1:9
We are told in the Bible when God tells us something to not harden our hearts like we would have done when we were younger. (Hebrews 3:15)
But to listen and obey.
For me, so many times, I wait until others agree with me to make sure I am doing the right thing.
I deeply fear doing the wrong thing.
But God didn't whisper my dream to them He whispered it to me.
"...fear is often a confirmation to move forward than a reason to turn back on the path to our God-sized dreams."(Holley Gerth,Opening the Door to Your God Sized Dream Devotional)
As Holley goes on to explain, God wired a part of our brain called the amygdala to control our flight or fight response.
"The amygdala likes the status quo. It sees change, especially if it means stepping out of our comfort zone, as a threat because it's unfamiliar. Therefore it registers those things as something that needs a "flight or fight response" initially. In scripture, when God says, "Do not fear," it is almost always to someone already feeling fear. He helps us get past that first response and move from fear to faith. But that first fear response is often an indicator that God is asking us to step out of our comfort zone. That's why it can be part of a confirmation that he's asking us to do something." (Opening the Door To Your God Sized Dreams Devo,Ch 12)
So, what am I waiting for?
What are you waiting for?
Walk fearless, my friends
