What part of your dream feels the riskiest? Have you ever had people misunderstand or disagree with your dream? What do you do when your dream is scary or when others don't support you?Any time you venture out from what everyone else is doing you will get met with resistance.
I think people aren't sure what to do with you if you aren't doing the same thing as everyone else. It's scary for them and it's scary for you. Uncertainty breeds fear.
There will always be that part of you that want's to run and hide if you put yourself out there and you get rejected. But one of the biggest things I think we have all learned from doing this Dream Series the past few months is that you have to take the brave hard steps.
Especially when people misunderstand and try to convince you this dream isn't going to happen.
The simple of act of speaking my dreams out loud is the scariest. Giving them words makes them feel more concrete and real.
Even as the words come out I hear myself and almost can't believe what I'm saying. Is this really me, the girl that has struggled nearly her entire life with what she has wanted to be when she grew up?
When you speak your dreams out loud you are giving them a voice- because you know in the deepest recesses of your soul, God planted something and somehow, someway, He is going to make a way for those dreams to get fed and nurtured and grow into something beyond what you ever dreamed possible.
Don't go silent when others aren't jumping and down cheering you on, or aren't as excited for this new road you are walking down as you are.
Know what's in you and dig deep. Know what God told you and hold tight. This dream is for you, not them.
I'd go one step further beyond speaking your dream and say standing up for your dream would be the next scariest step. Standing up when no one else does. When no one's sure what you are talking about or what this dream will entail.
"So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised...We are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved." Heb 10:35-36,39Do not throw away your confidence, so many times I've done this very thing, but when I came across this verse I saw for the first time how I had been living in fear...not freedom.
God tells us to push through when things get hard and uncomfortable. Hold tight to Him, hold our heads up and fight for what we believe in and fight for good things in this life.
Good things are worth fighting for. If it's easy, maybe it's not big enough.
So, friend, are you ready to hold onto your confidence, and persevere-because like the verse says above if we do this we will receive what has been promised us. It's time to start living like we believe it.
"For the vision is yet for the appointed time; and it hasteth towards the end and shall not lie: Though it tarries wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay." Hab 2:3
